Field note
How to prepare a sample before we arrive in Sibu
We can work from a messy room. We would rather not spend the first morning finding out that the only person with the mailbox password is on leave in Miri.
Before an on-site week we send a short list. Vacancies in the sample window, with advertisements. All applications for those vacancies, including rejects. Score sheets and interview notes. Offer and rejection messages. The names of people who made first-pass decisions. Access to the stores where packs actually live, not the store on the policy page.
If some of that is paper, leave it paper. We will sit with it. If some of it is in an agency’s portal, ask the agency for an export before we arrive, and tell us if they refuse.
What we do not need: a slide deck about your culture, a rebuilt folder created the night before, or a briefing that explains why the gaps are “not really gaps.” We will still be kind. We will still open the original trail.
